Is registration required?

Anyone who would like to check out BRC is very welcome. Participation in trial trainings is non-binding and does not require registration. However, you are welcome to contact Colin at media@baselrunningclub.ch or by phone/WhatsApp at +4176 561 79 97, so that we know you’re coming and can look out for you.

.

When and where can I find you?

You can find the meeting point for Tuesday (St. Jakob) and Thursday (Schützenmatte Stadium) here. It’s best to come a little earlier, because the training starts at 18:45.

.

Are complete beginners welcome?

We do not offer special running training for complete beginners. However, if you can jog for at least 10 km in ca. 1 hour, you are welcome to join us.

.

Is the Basel Running Club also suitable for very fast runners?

Definitely. Our fastest runners run 10 km in just under 30 minutes, the half marathon in 70 minutes, and the full marathon in about 2 hours and 25 minutes. If you’re one of the fastest, you’ll find a suitable training partner in our club. Thanks to structured training and the guidance of a coaching team, you will definitely improve regardless of your current level.

.

Can I change and shower on-site?

Locker rooms and shower facilities are available on both Tuesday and Thursday.

.

Can I attend trial trainings more than once?

If you’re still not sure after one training, you’re welcome to attend multiple trial trainings. BRC does not limit this. It’s important that you feel comfortable, so everyone can decide for themselves how often they come to the trial training. If you have any questions, please feel free to approach the coaches, they are happy to provide information.

.

Which training group should I join?

In general, we do not differentiate our training groups according to performance level. If you are still at the beginning of your running career, or generally unsure which group is right for you, you are always welcome in the Fitness group (requirement: 9 km in 60 minutes). If you are training for a competition, we recommend joining the Competition group. If you like to run over hill and dale, have some trail experience and can run about 15 km in 90 minutes, you are welcome to try the Trail group on Tuesdays, allthough we recommend to join the Competition or Fitness group in the very first trial training. The alternative to the trail group on Thursday is the Endurance group, which also runs about 15 km in 90 minutes. Of course, you can spontaneously decide on-site and generally switch between groups. You can find the training plan here.

.

Can I run when I’m sick?

If you are sick, please stay home. Please inform the respective group leader before training in case of any health restrictions, such as asthma or bee/wasp allergies.

.

Does training take place in all weather conditions?

Since the club was founded, not a single training has been cancelled. In exceptional cases (e.g. strong thunderstorm, storm or black ice), the training may be modified. Information in this regard is communicated on the homepage.

..

Can I also participate in the long runs on weekends?

If you want to join a long run on the weekend: Check the current training plan to check when and from where the training run takes place. Changing rooms are not available during the long run.

.

How much does an active membership cost?

The annual fee currently costs 100 CHF. You will receive a free club shirt! For more information, please visit the Become a member page.
